Opus Magnum die zweite: Kamasi Washington – Heaven and Earth

Kamasi Washington hat sein zweites ‚Full-Length Album‘ angekündigt. Heaven and Earth ist erneut ein Mammut-Werk und kommt auf vier LP’s.

Wer dachte sein Erstling „The Epic“ aus dem Jahr 2015 könnte zumindest vom Umfang her so schnell nicht getoppt werden der hat sich geirrt. Heaven and Earth kommt auf satte 2,5 Stunden Spielzeit und die Vinyl Variante benötigt vier Scheiben um das ganze abzubilden.

Unterteilt ist das neue Werk in die die Titelgebenden Teile „Heaven“ und „Earth“. Im Ankündigungstweet sagt Kamasi selbst dazu folgendes:

The Earth side represents the world as I see it outwardly, the world that I am a part of. The Heaven side represents the world as I see it inwardly, the world that is a part of me.

Nach den beiden jetzt schon veröffentlichten Tracks ‚Fists of Fury‘ und ‚The Space Travellers Lullaby‘ bleibt einem erstmal nichts anderes übrig als wieder etwas ganz großes zu erwarten. Gerade ‚Fist of Fury‘ das neben der ausgefeilten Produktion auch eine klare politische Botschaft mitbringt ist im wahrsten Sinne des Worts schon wieder monumental.

Seht unten die gesamte Tracklist. Das album erscheint am 22. Juni auf Young Turks und kann da auch schon vorbestellt werden. Für einen Preis von rund 60 Euro dürfen wir wohl auch wieder eine edle Verpackung für die vier Schallplatten erwarten. Das Label spricht hier von  „A BESPOKE GATEFOLD SLEEVE“, mal schauen. Für Fans des New-Jazz Saxophonisten ohnehin ein No-Brainer.
