In Mario Paint, the algorithm used to compress the data of the drawing to save it can fail to compress it into the allotted 32 kilobytes of space if the image is extremely complex, i.e. consists of a chaotic arrangement of randomly-colored pixels.
If this happens, this rare error screen reading “DATA OVER FLOW” will appear, alongside an animation of the save robot emitting smoke.
