Masayoshi Fujita: Bird Ambience
Der japanische Vibraphonist, Multi-Perkussionist und Komponist Masayoshi Fujita hat mit ‚Bird Ambience‘ ein neues Album veröffentlicht auf dem sein Marimba Spiel im Mittelpunkt steht.

Nach diversen Ambient und Dub Produktionen als El Fog und der Perfektion seines angestammten Instruments dem Vibraphon, bringt er nun seine musikalischen Evolutionswege zusammen und erschafft etwas Neues. Nach dreizeihn Jahren in Berlin ist Fujita nun in japanische das Bergdorf Kami-chō in der Präfektur Hyōgo gezogen um dort umgeben von der Natur weiter Musik zu machen.
Um ein Haar hätte ich ihn letzten Sommer live in Düsseldorf gesehen, coronabedingt blieb er aber im Verkehr stecken. Lässt sich hoffentlich mal nachholen wenn er irgendwann zurück in der alten Heimat ist. ‚Bird Ambience‘ lohnt sich auf jeden Fall entdeckt zu werden. Großes Kino!
Bird Ambience also marks his liberation from fastidious preparation for past solo releases to new endeavours in improvisation. “I prioritised trying to capture the wonder which happens during those occasional magic improv moments. Sometimes the mic-ing and placement of instruments was pretty rough; things weren’t perfect and everything was done quickly, but it turned out as the final recording. Overall when I couldn’t decide between two takes, I told myself to go with the first”, Masayoshi recalls.
