Prince giving advise about the Internet (1999)

Prince war nicht nur ein legendärer Popstar sondern er prophezeite auch den (nicht immer nur positiven) Einfluss des Internets auf unsere mentale Gesundheit.

Das war im Jahr 1999 bei den sog. ‚Yahoo Internet Life Awards‘, das heisst noch bevor Social Media damit angefangen hatte uns gefühlt jede freie an unsere Aufmerksamkeit zu wollen.

Facebook beispielsweise betrat erst im Jahr 2004 die Bühne, das erste iPhone erschien 2007. Es hat den Anschein als wäre Prince mal kurz ein paar Jahre in die Zukunft gereist und wäre zurück gekommen um die Welt zu warnen.

Ok, man muss hier zugute halten, dass 1999 auch das Jahr war in dem tatsächlich ‚The Matrix‘ seine Kino Premiere feierte. Ein Hauch Cyber-Dystopie waberte also seinerzeit schon durch den Mainstream.
